Living the Ten Basic Truths®
Mapping Your "Truths" Course:
| "During the last ten years
I have been on the radio I have had the opportunity
to interview over 1000 guests: adventurers, professionals,
gurus, scholars, spiritual leaders, philosophers, scientists,
and writers. I have had the luxury of reading their
books and asking them for advice. Sometimes I have been
slow to learn and even slower to realize the wealth
of their wise counsel. Often I have felt inadequate
because I hoped to relay their messages better. My gift
to you is another attempt to share with you in my own
words just of few of the repeated, life-truths gleaned
from these many honored guests:" |

1. |
The
most influential tool we have is kindness: When
we care first about the feelings of others, our lives
our careers, and our friendships always run smoother.
When we take the time to feel empathy and express concern
for others, the rewards are boundless.
|
|
2. |
We're
all in this together. Humans, animals, the earth, all
living things are one organism called Gaia:
When we nurture our earth and other living creatures,
we nurture ourselves. All things are unique and individual,
yet everything is designed to be beautifully interdependent
in the web of life..
|
|
3. |
Each
of us has an inimitable reason for being here: We
should seek balance in nature, in relationships, in
finances, in health, and in activity. We experience
this truth all around us, from the serenity of a lake
to the tempest of a storm, from misfortune to success,
and from the tears of sadness to the tears of joy.
|
|
4. |
Finding
balance is a sacred practice: And
if we don't pass the course the first time we will automatically
be enrolled in a later class. .
|
|
5. |
There
is always a lesson in adversity: And
if we don't pass the course the first time we will automatically
be enrolled in a later class. .
|
|
6. |
It
is never too late to run away and join the circus: Old
age is a mindset. It does not come with passing of years
but with passing of opportunity. When we seek new answers
to old questions we are young - we are architects of
new ideas, inventors, and adventurers..
|
|
7. |
Sometimes
we have to go to the edge and jump: Nothing
is gained by never taking risks, sometimes we need to
just shut our eyes and jump, having faith that we will
either learn how to fly or land on solid ground.
|
|
8. |
There
is more range of mobility when we are flexible: Like
bamboo, we can be both strong and flexible. It is important
to know when to bend with strong forces and gale winds
so we don't snap, so we'll survive and spring back to
our previous strength and stature.
|
|
9. |
Life
is a boomerang: What
we send out always comes back, so we need to aim carefully
otherwise it may return to knock some sense into our
heads.
|
|
10. |
There
is always someone with you:
Guardian angels come in all forms; some, our friends,
we see in front of us; others, less visible, are always
by our side.
